Dr. Kody was raised in Lebanon and attended East Linn Christian Academy through high school, where he graduated from in 2013, following which he attended Oregon State University for college finishing in 2016. He was then accepted to Oregon Health and Sciences Universityfor dental school that winter. Dr. Kody began school at OHSU in the late summer of 2017, as a third-generation legacy of the school’s program, excited to be attending a school historically known for producing highly skilled clinicians. He graduated in 2021 with honor and was grateful to have spent four years learning from and with many respected instructors and colleagues of both extraordinary clinical skill and knowledge. Dr. Kody decided to move to the Boise, Idaho area following graduation. He spent a year working in a busy practice providing care in all facets of general dentistry. While he enjoyed his time living there, he decided to return home and join his father in practice in Lebanon. Quite literally growing up in and around traditional family dental practice has helped shape the philosophy of care Dr. Kody strives to maintain in practice today. He wants every patient to feel comfortable and at ease, earning their trust by providing detailed explanations when necessary and always providing honest advice and options for all patients’ unique concerns and conditions. Whether you require a little “TLC” or prefer to be “in-and-out”, he’s always happy to accommodate you the best he possibly can. Outside of the OfficeDr. Kody has a love for just about anything outdoors and the Mid-Willamette Valley and surrounding areas offer more recreational activities than can be taken advantage of. Depending on the season he enjoys fishing, running- often on local logging roads, lake days, or simply shooting his bow on a quiet summer evening. He spends a large amount of his free time visiting and relaxing with family and friends, most often accompanied by his black lab, Harper. Beyond his personal hobbies, Dr. Kody also enjoys serving when he can at the local assisting school, volunteering care to patients and helping provide assisting students chairside clinical opportunities.       |

The disease is characterized by gums that are swollen, red and tend to bleed during brushing and flossing. Luckily, periodontal disease is easy to prevent and treat if it is caught early enough. If we notice signs of advanced periodontal disease, we may recommend a scaling and root planing procedure. The goal is to return your gums to a pink, healthy state. Dental ExamThe American Dental Association (ADA) recommends a routine check-up up roughly twice a year. A routine appointment with our doctors will typically include a professional cleaning and a detailed examination of your teeth, gums, and other oral tissues. We may also recommend an oral cancer screening for our older patients. Oral Cancer ScreeningCancer screening can be a frightening scenario for some people, but it should not be. The truth is oral cancer screenings done consistently offer you the opportunity to discover problems early when they can be treated more easily and successfully. Teeth CleaningMaintaining good oral hygiene is vital if you want your teeth to stay strong, functional, and attractive. Mouth GuardA mouthguard will protect your teeth and prevent dental emergencies. If you suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding), we may recommend a night guard. Many patients with bruxism tend to grind their teeth during sleep. A night guard acts as a barrier that prevents enamel wear. Sports GuardContact sports or sports with moving objects can be a very dangerous environment for your teeth. One extreme tackle or a ball hit into the mouth can do serious, sometimes permanent, damage to the jaw and mouth. If you participate in physical activities that put you at risk for dental trauma or injury, we strongly recommend a custom-made sports mouthguard. Dental SealantsA dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating that prevents cavities and tooth decay. Sealants are usually applied to the occlusal (bite) surface of the molars and premolars. These teeth possess deep grooves and fissures that are much harder to clean, especially for children and teenagers. Sometimes the grooves are so thin that the bristles of a toothbrush are rendered essentially ineffective. A sealant will provide a more even brushing surface and seal off the enamel from harmful bacteria. Preventing tooth decay will ensure your child's smile remains beautiful for years to come! TMJThe temporomandibular joint (TMJ), allows us to move our joint forwards, backward, and side-to-side. Any problems that prevent us from using this joint properly are known as TMD or temporomandibular joint disorders. We provide some treatments designed to alleviate any pain or discomfort associated with the TMJ.
